It’s Time To Go Social For Tiroler Tageszeitung
Leveraging frictionless onboarding for new-age readers
About
Tiroler Tageszeitung (TT) is a leading Tyrolean medium daily newspaper committed to regional quality journalism for over 75 years.
Since it first appeared on June 21, 1945, TT has achieved a top position in the Tyrolean media market. Especially in times when so much false news is circulating, TT fulfills an essential supply mandate for the population: to report seriously, reliably, and up-to-date.
This success has been made possible through its various media channels:
- Tiroler Tageszeitung
- TT am Sonntag
- TT Kompakt
- TT Online
TT runs under the flagship of Moser Holding AG. There are more than 100 editors working in the newsroom in Innsbruck and the branch offices in the Tyrolean districts and Vienna.
We never experienced any scalability issue with LoginRadius. We had a growth increase from ~40000 users when we started and now we are at ~177000. That’s impressive!
Challenges
TT approached LoginRadius with the following managerial requirements:
Easy login and access management
Trying to manage their registration and access infrastructure in-house was a resource-intensive strain for Tiroler Tageszeitung.
It was an opportune time to hand over authentication to a platform whose focus was on login infrastructure. TT wanted a secure, stable, reliable solution that made onboarding seamless for their consumers.
Cloud data storage
TT realized that cloud servers are gearing up as a suitable, secure option for storing data online. Also, they ensure that data can be accessed from any location in the world.
TT decided to transition to cloud storage and, therefore, approached LoginRadius expecting a scalable hosting environment, among other cloud-centric benefits.
Implementation
Registration as a Service (RaaS)
A fast-expanding newspaper like TT needed to ensure that consumer registration is happening quickly and seamlessly. Therefore, we helped them implement a fully managed and customizable registration on their online portal. They could leverage our custom fields and interfaces to create customized registration forms and CAPTCHA to avoid spamming. We also helped them get rid of their existing Social Login system.
Social Sharing and Account Linking
We help TT to connect and multiply followers on social media by placing social sharing widgets. They could choose their social counters (Like, Tweet, Pin It, Plus, etc.) and theme, while also enabling short URL sharing. Additionally, we enabled auto-linking of multiple social accounts based on email addresses.
Single Sign-On
TT was aware that consumers find it exhausting to use multiple credentials to log in to multiple accounts. We could unify their consumer journey by implementing Single Sign-On (SSO) into their systems. Now, consumers need only one key (set of login credentials) to access multiple web properties.
Webhooks and Data Migration
We implemented a smooth and seamless transition to meet TT’s one-time demand for migrating their existing consumer data to LoginRadius. They could also quickly and effortlessly configure webhooks for multiple events using our APIs.
Results
Scalability and no downtime
Scaling TT to support a gamut of users was never challenging for us, even during high load events such as big government announcements or global affairs. We helped them increase from ~40000 users since our initial days to ~177000 users (as of February 2021). We also provided low downtime without forgoing user experience. We ensured quick responses, so TT is confident about our availability at all times.
A Comprehensive View of Consumers
TT gravitated toward LoginRadius for a 360-degree view of consumers. With our User Management Dashboard, they could view and manage multiple consumers. Additionally, they could customize the data fields, filter data points, and export the data into CSV format.
Social Analytics and Reporting
Perhaps one of the most important differentiators for TT was LoginRadius’ ability to provide a highly personalized solution based on consumer expectations. To achieve that, we helped TT churn analytics based on social parameters, demographics, login analytics, user activities, and more.
How did we do it?
LoginRadius has been an important aspect of TT’s growing popularity among digital consumers. With login and security of user-profiles taken care of via robust policies such as 2FA and password strength enforcement, the regional newspaper giant now focuses on delivering their core practice—report seriously and reliably to deliver the latest news updates.
