Creating A Unified Identity For Express And Star
Empowering a centrally managed platform right from the newsroom
About
Express and Star is the biggest-selling regional evening newspaper in England. Founded in 1889, it is based in Wolverhampton and covers the West Midlands and Staffordshire, including the Black Country.
As digital transformation started to take over the publishing industry, Express and Star upgraded to digital media by launching a website in 1997. In no time, the publication house became the fastest growing website among the leading regional publishers in England, with an average of more than 900,000 monthly unique users per month.
As the publication house continues to expand, it has been adding more and more mobile platforms for readers to gain access to England’s diverse and massive local news.
Challenges
Express and Star approached LoginRadius with the following consumer-centric requirements:
Save Resources
For Express and Star it was a big expense to built, maintain an In-house identity solution where they have to manage a lot of compliances. Instead they wanted to prefer a robust CIAM solution which might get onboarded easily and was tried and tested well with other organizations in the similar domain.
Data Security
Express and Star knew their consumers took the security and privacy of their personal data seriously. The publication house needed a secure CIAM platform to assure their consumers that their data are stored securely and comply with privacy regulations.
Implementation
Data Migration
We implemented a smooth and seamless transition to meet Express and Star’s demand for migrating their existing consumer data to LoginRadius.
Likewise, an automated approach was adopted to minimize any disruption to Express and Star’s daily operations.
Standard Registration
With LoginRadius, Express and Star could implement a fully managed and customizable registration and authentication on their website.
They can now create registration forms with the help of Custom Fields and interfaces as per their requirement.
Single Sign-On
To meet consumers’ expectations of seamless access to multiple applications via one single login, irrespective of the platform or technology used, LoginRadius implemented Single Sign-On (SSO).
Consumers can now login to Express and Star from any device without risking security.
Third-Party Integration
LoginRadius made it easier for Express and Star to get into really competitive spaces by integrating options like MailChimp and Disqus to its platform.
We also offered an understanding on how consumers interact and we ensured that all data is transparent.
Results
Saved Time and Resources
Leveraging LoginRadius to handle their identity and access management needs meant that Express and Star saved valuable time and resources— which they redirected to focus on core their business operations.
With our comprehensive identity solution at play, the Express and Star development team no longer had to deal with consumer login and authentication glitches or the ongoing development and maintenance of their platform.
Dedicated Consumer Support
LoginRadius has 24/7 technical support teams dedicated to ensuring that our solution is flexible, and the client gets the most of our platform. With Express and Star too, our consumer success team was available around the clock regardless of the time difference.
Furthermore, the LoginRadius API support documentation provided Express and Star with extensive documentation that helped their development team resolve issues and ran their highly-regulated and successful website.
How did we do it?
Like any print publication, Express and Star faced a few challenges in maintaining their consumer size during the shift toward digital media platforms.
With so many consumers interacting with their content, Express and Star needed a robust platform that could do all the heavy-lifting of registering consumers and deploying secure identity management in a frictionless, hassle-free manner.
Our implementation was well-monitored, smooth, and clear. After LoginRadius took over login and access management (among others), Express and Star have been redirecting their time and resources to what they are best at—sharing what’s new with the world.
